Two unforeseen moments in time— One brings them together, the other is a danger so real it could tear them apart.

Antoinette ‘Toni’ Grimaldi prefers to keep out of the spotlight, blend in with the crowd and experience life the same as the bulk of the population. Being a mining magnate’s daughter is a difficult persona for her to uphold. She just doesn’t fit in with high society standards, always managing to say something inappropriate or trip over her own feet at the worst possible moment. Resulting in that look of disappointment and embarrassment her parents inevitably wear whenever she’s around.

Meeting a handsome stranger who comes to her rescue and asks her out on a date is so much more than Toni could have ever hoped for on her dream holiday—one she is surprised her parents have even permitted her to take alone. Her fairy-tale moment is short lived, though, when Toni discovers the stranger has been hired by her family to follow her every move—under the guise of keeping her safe.

Jason finds he is drawn to Antoinette—she is nothing like the socialite he was expecting to shadow around London’s nightclubs at all. After an awkward first meeting he convinces Toni that there is more to his interest in her than just as her bodyguard. To his surprise his attraction for the soft spoken, thoughtful woman grows, despite his usual reluctance to commit to any kind of relationship.

A disaster at one of the family owned mines and a string of death threats forces Toni to return home, and her need for a bodyguard becomes a life and death reality.

Sports Romance Blog Hop – Combining My Love of Sport and Books #Giveaway

Sports romance blog hop button

I have always been obsessed with sport. When my school friends were all gushing over the latest and greatest pop idol or band I was more focussed on sportsmen. My school books were covered with pictures of rugby league players – my sport of choice. I tried at length to convert my girlfriends into sports fan – usually to no avail. Luckily for me my sister was as sports obsessed as me so she was my enabler, taking me to games of footy every weekend 😉

ad

Said sister is now a well-known sports commentator in Australia and often referred to as the first female to dominate Australia’s then very male worlds of sports journalism. Yes she did venture into the hallowed walls of the athletes change rooms.

My addiction to romance novels began about 7 years ago – about the time my husband gave me my first smart phone and I discovered the reading apps available. I was hooked. The day I discovered there was a specific genre that included sports stars across a variety of sports I was ecstatic. I could combine my two great loves at once. Taking the children to swimming lessons, after school sports training sessions and doctor’s visits became a lot more fun when I could have as many books as I wanted all available with the swipe of my thumb 😉

I only began writing my own books a few years ago and it’s no surprise that my heroes are rugby league players. Set in Sydney, Australia my League of Love series tells the tales of the lives and loves of the players and staff from the Sydney Jets. My main characters are not just the footy players. Pippa’s Fantasy is about the club physiotherapist, Laura’s Light, the mother of the rising star and Sarah from Sarah’s Soldier is the Jets social media manager.  All my books do have one thing in common they all have a HEA.

emilyscowboy_800Here is the blurb to recently nominated ARRA Finalist in 4 categories and CTTR Award winner, Emily’s Cowboy.2013 ARRA finalist

When love is not enough to heal the scars, both physical and mental, of the one you thought you would spend your life with…what else is there?

It’s such a cliché—country boy moves to the big city to follow his dreams, leaving his girl and everything he loves behind—but that’s exactly what Gareth Andrews has done. Playing rugby league is Gareth’s dream, and he’s signed with one of the best teams in the competition, the Sydney Jets.

Of course, that has meant a move to the big city and leaving Emily Mackenzie and everything he loves behind. Not that Gareth hasn’t begged her to join him in the city—he has, on bended knee—but Emily needs to stay in Gunnedah and help her father on the family farm until her brother’s stint in the armed forces is over. But Gareth knows it’s more than that. Emily is hiding away, embarrassed by the scars that mar her body in a constant reminder of the bushfire that nearly took her life.

Can love give Emily the courage to face strangers again when her father is badly injured and Gareth shows up at the hospital to support her? Or will she let her fear and shame get the better of her, and break her one true love’s heart for a second time?

Cassies Choice by Donna Gallagher
cassieschoice_800Title: Cassie’s Choice
Series: – League of Love, book 7
Author: Donna Gallagher
Publication Date: 24th January 2014
Published by: Totally Bound Publishing
Genre: Contemporary Erotic
Book Synopsis:
One night of regret and a simple lack of communication lead to two miserable years apart. What will happen when the two broken-hearted are forced to reunite?
One night has haunted Cassie for over two years. After agreeing to something she didn’t feel sure about, all for the sake of a man—or more correctly, her fear of losing him, she is still consumed with thoughts of her past.
Although a few years younger than her Riley Walters was all man, in and out of the bedroom. So much so that Cassie believed he would tire of her sexual inexperience quickly. For him she was just a bit of fun—he never said anything to her to make her doubt that assumption. The reason she put herself in such an uncomfortable situation in the first place – to keep him happy. Of course it didn’t help. Riley disappeared from her life and never had anything to do with her again. Now he’s back, part of her social circle, leaving Cassie to find a way to deal with the attraction she still feels for him even after two years of trying to convince herself otherwise.

Riley was horrified at how much rage he felt that night. Memories of a trauma from childhood quickly surfaced – He was terrified that he was becoming a monster, just like the man from his memory. Cassandra Davies filled his mind, his every thought, his obsession. Now he’s been offered a position at the Jets Rugby League Club, and an opportunity to work alongside the people he called family, which is something he’d always dreamed of—but how will he survive being around Cassie if he can’t drag her into his arms and back to his bed and never let her leave.

Author Bio:
Sydney-born Donna Gallagher decided at an early age that life needed be tackled head on. Leaving home at fifteen, she supported herself through her teen years. In her twenties she married a professional sportsman, her love of sportespecially rugby leagueprobably overriding her good sense.
The sevenyear marriage was an adventure. There were the emotional ups and downs of having a husband with a public profile in a sometimes glamorous but always highpressure field. There were always interesting characters to meet and observe, and even the opportunity to live for a time in the UK.
Eventually Donna returned home a single woman, but she never lost her passion for watching sport, as well as the people in and around it.
Now happily re-married and with three sons, Donna loves coffee mornings with her female friends, sorting through problems from the personal to the international. But she’s on even footing with the keenest man when it comes to watching and talking rugby league.
Donna considers herself something of a black sheep in a family of high achievers. Her brother has a doctorate in mathematics and her sister is a wellknown Australian sports journalist.

An avid reader, especially of romance, Donna finally found she couldn’t stop the characters residing in her imagination from spilling onto paper. Naturally, rugby league is the backdrop to her spicy tales of hunky heroes and spunky heroines overcoming adversity to eventually find true love.

ARRA Finalist, New Releases and Aussie Day Celebrations. Busy Busy Busy!

images 7There are so many reasons for me to open the bubbly it’s just ridiculous!

2013 ARRA finalistOn Monday 6th January the finalists for the ARRA Awards were announced. For those who might not have heard of ARRA it’s the Australian Romance Readers Association. I was totally shocked to see my name listed in four finalists categories. Two of my books Emily’s Cowboy and Sarah’s Soldier are in competition for the Best Erotic Romance Book. What an honour and to be honest seeing my name in a list with some of MY favourite authors really is exciting and ridiculous! I’m looking forward to the awards dinner because it really is a fun night.

http://australianromancereaders.wordpress.com/2014/01/06/2013-arr-awards-finalists-announced/

I attended my first ARRA Awards dinner last year, the event was held during the ARRA Convention in Brisbane. Being in a room full of people who love romance books as much as I do was such a wonderful experience. They ‘got me’ and it was great to just talk books for the night. I had a few ‘fangirl’ moments, that’s for sure. My husband flew in for the dinner, he was on his way to Darwin for work and stopped off in Brisbane for the night. He probably didn’t have as good a time as me, being the only male at a table of eight women may have been a bit daunting. I know he got a little nervous when I told him what some of the women wrote, especially the BDSM authors…but he would probably deny my accusation 😉 The organisers of ARRA are truly amazing, so friendly and helpful. I’m pretty sure that Debbie Phillips never sleeps, her speed in returning emails is legendary. I would like to thank the crew at ARRA for all their hard work. I love reading the book reviews, about the new releases and all the happenings on the ARRA blog and in the newsletter. Thanks also to the wonderful readers that nominated my books, seriously I’m so honoured.

perf5.250x8.000.inddNow if that was not exciting enough I also have two releases to look forward to in the next week. cassieschoice_800

Cassie’s Choice, League of Love book 7 is releasing to the usual outlets on Friday 24th January in eBook format. Cassie has been available from Totally Bound for a few weeks though.

Today I received an email letting me know that the print release of League of Love, Volume 3 (this includes Emily’s Cowboy and Sarah’s Soldier) has been brought forward to THIS Friday. I was expecting this book to release in February so the news really has taken me by surprise and of course I’ve not done anything to promote it. *Sigh* I do want to thank my publisher Totally Bound for all the encouragement, support and love they have shown me. There’s a banner up at the Totally Bound website that brings a huge smile to my face.

Australia Day is coming up so I’ve been involved in a special Australia Day Blog Hop. My day is Friday so come back and visit to enter the Rafflecopter, there are some great books and $100 gift voucher up for grabs. I won’t even hint at what I’m blogging about but I think for those that know me you can probably guess 😉

On Facebook a few Aussie authors have joined together to create a page called Aussie Author Month. You really should check it out, not only for the prizes but the for the crazy posts and nice pictures *wink wink*

Well that’s all from me for the moment, I have to finish this blog and post it so I can get ready to  go to the 20/20 Big Bash Cricket tonight. For those that don’t understand what I just said, don’t worry…I’m talking sport again 😉

Excerpt

It was now or never. He had to make a choice. This was a chance to make things right with Cassie so that he could face his friends again. But Riley was worried that he would not be strong enough to let her leave. Once she entered his apartment would he have the fortitude to keep his hands from her? Keep from kissing those tempting lips? Running his fingers through her blonde curls or feeling the weight of her breasts in the palms of his hands again?

“No… Don’t go, Cass.” The words came, a plea, as he reached out to stop her. The moment his hand touched her arm, Riley knew he was in trouble. That small connection to her opened up a dam of emotions. The familiar tingle raced up his arm. Just barely a touch and his body was on fire. Needy. Wanting. The power of her over him was indescribable. He wanted to fall to his knees, beg her forgiveness. He would have given anything at that moment for her to touch him. But he could not be weak. He had to pull himself together. If Cassie wanted to talk then talk they would.

“You wanted to talk, let’s talk. Do you want to come in? I can make you a cuppa, I have tea. Actually, I’ve got some of your favourite—it’s still chamomile, right?”

“If you’re sure it’s no trouble, and yes it is.” The smile nearly did him in. When Cassie smiled, her face lit up a room, her eyes sparkled and a dimple appeared in her left cheek. It was adorable and sexy as all get out. He had teased her over it many times but it always turned him inside out. Tonight was no different. God he was in trouble.

Riley stepped back and as Cassie entered past him he caught a whiff of her perfume—no, not perfume, Cassie didn’t wear any, it was all her. Enticing and fresh. Reminding him of what he had lost, what he missed.

“I’ll just pop the kettle on then,” he muttered as he tried to not obsess over the fact that the woman he wanted so badly was now standing in his living room.

“Is this where you grew up? The place you shared with Caitlin?”

Riley stopped in his tracks and watched as Cassie roamed the small space that he called home. She touched the back of his sofa with her hand, and he imagined her stroking his shaft the same way. He refocused and returned to his original plan of making tea as he answered her.

“Only for a few years. We moved in with Brodie after that. It doesn’t look the same as it did back then. This furniture is new and the paintings and photos are courtesy of Caitlin. I didn’t really have much input.” For the life of him Riley didn’t know why he was spilling so much information. There was no reason for Cassie to be interested in who had decorated the place. Riley’s mouth just seemed to take on a life of its own. Pretty much just like the rest of him. His brain was saying slow down, but his mouth and dick had different ideas.

Turning his attention to filling the kettle with water and finding the tea bags, Riley tried to pull himself together.

“I like it, it’s cosy. Caitlin did a good job because the place suits you, Riley.” She spoke from directly behind him. She had entered the tiny space of the kitchen. Riley would only have to turn around and she would be within reach. The temptation of knowing that was torture. Riley, ignoring the belief that a watched pot never boils, stared at the kettle waiting for the steam to rise—tried to ignore the voice that was killing him.

He certainly could not take the chance of looking at her yet. He tried for some small talk, amazed at the length of time it took for the so-called rapid-boil kettle to heat up. “So how have you been?” It was the most ridiculous question he could have ever asked. As soon as the words had left his lips he wanted to haul them back in.

“Now that’s an interesting question… Confused, angry, sad and lonely just about sums it up. What about you, Riley? How have you been?”

Another 5 Cup review from Coffee Time Romance + Ebook Giveaway!

Today I received an email from Coffee Time Romance informing me Emily’s Cowboy, book 5 in my League of Love series, had been reviewed. I am very pleased to announce that I have another 5 Cup review 🙂 To celebrate I’m giving away a copy of Emily’s Cowboy (Amazon or ARe) just leave a comment for a chance to win.

Coffee Time Romance have given the three books in my series that they’ve reviewed  5 Cup ratings. That alone is absolutely wonderful news, but it’s the reviews themselves that have had me doing my own awkward version of a happy dance. When words like “wizard with love” or “no romantic at heart should miss” are used to describe your writing how can you not get excited? You put so much love into each of your characters it’s such a thrill when you find a reader who loves them just as much as you do.

I particularly love this bit – And yes, I think I can recite it word for word 😉

“The League of Love is a superb series by the very talented Ms. Gallagher. I absolutely love these characters and the men who are all hunky heroes. I believe Gareth and Emily’s story is so special, and one no romantic at heart should miss. The love shines from the very first page and despite the ups and downs in the relationship, the reader never doubts the love because is almost a living character itself. Ms. Gallagher is a wizard with love and builds The League of Love around it.” Delane – Reviewer for Coffee Time Romance & More.

So CTR reviews, thank you so much for making me feel like a real author and encouraging me to keep writing down what those voices tell me to 🙂

Here’s the link in case you feel tempted to read the whole review 😉

Excerpt

He needed space, needed to get away from her before it was too late, if that moment had not already sailed past. He pushed her away with hands that had been roughly gripping her, shaking her as his fury built and his words flew at her like barbs. He couldn’t stand the pain of it anymore. The futility of loving her. It wasn’t enough…she would never let it be enough.

Gareth grabbed the first clothing he saw—tracksuit pants, runners and a shirt—and dressed on the run as he fled his room, with just enough presence of mind to pick up his keys as he raced out of the door. Down the stairs he ran until he was in his car, heading he didn’t know where, just away. He had just destroyed his life. He cried no tears. He felt nothing. Hollow, empty. Directionless.

Then the pain hit, sledgehammer-hard, right in the guts, followed by soul-wrenching sorrow and frustration, anger and finally regret. The full gamut of emotions bombarded him as he struggled to survive the onslaught. He’d known it was coming, had had to be away from Emily before it hit, thus his speedy escape. He did not want her to share this with him. If she could push him away, he could do it to her in return.

“What the fuck have you done?” he screamed, banging his fists on the steering wheel. “What the fuck have you done?”

It took a few minutes, parked safely beside the road, for Gareth to calm down enough to continue driving, and he headed for the only place he had left. He headed to the Jets’ training ground, to the gym, hoping that maybe if he worked out until his body was in physical pain, it would outweigh the emotional agony ripping him apart.

Don’t forget to leave a comment for a chance to win a copy of Emily’s Cowboy from Amazon or Are.
