Many thanks for hosting me today, Donna. I’m not even sure if you read m/m lol!
October 11-13 will be Australia’s first ever official get together of m/m writers and readers and it’s being held right in the heart of Sydney’s gay community.
OZmmMeet 2013 has been in the pipeline for a while but we just went public today. It’s being put on by the Australasian Queer Romance Meets a recently formed Facebook group that includes writers, readers and reviewers of the genre who want to arrange meetups.
This will be a cross between the US GayRomLit style event and the UK m/m meet.
While we still haven’t finalised the program, we do have some fun activities planned. A group scavenger hunt will take place over the weekend, a sex toy lucky dip and hopefully a bondage demonstration by Sydney’s Mr Leather. But there will also be a full day of panel discussions on the Saturday.
Following that, on Saturday evening, upstairs at The Midnight Shift, there will be a Meet the Author reading and book signing session which is open to the public (entry free). Many will be sticking around forthe dancing and then the drag show at 1.30am
Delegates are encouraged to stay at either the venue itself: the Arts Hotel, 21 Oxford Street, Paddington or, for those wanting more self contained rooms, at The Oaks Hyde Park Plaza in College Street.
We’re hoping that authors, reviewers and readers from all around the world will attend. It will be a great excuse to visit Sydney and discuss the genre.
The website will be updated as we go forward, but you can see from the forum and poll we created to obtain panel discussion feedback that this thing is up and running.
It should be a great weekend both for those already familiar with the genre and the curious.
Some of the people already involved are: AB Gayle, Isabelle Rowan, Jess Buffett, Allison Mann, Matthew Lang, Barry Lowe and Kazza K.
So please, have a look at our website. http://www.ozmmmeet2013.com
Leave a comment, ask a question or just express an interest. We’d love to hear from you!
Thanks for posting this week AB, and yes I do read m/m romance. I have many favourite authors that are on my must read list 🙂
You will have to come visit again, do the On the Bench interview and tell us more about your latest releases.
